Abstract

This work is committed to the identity and representative analysis of the black woman in the fifth story of the book Insubmissas Lágrimas de Mulheres by Conceição Evaristo (2016), with the purpose of showing how the protagonist character represents other women in the contemporary world. Thus, the objective is to analyse the identity construction, the author's concept and characteristics of escrevivência in the construction of her work and present a reflection of the world and social issues. Thus, the bibliographic analysis in the study in question is based on the studies of Stuart Hall (2011) and Antônio C. Ciampa (1999) working on the construction and reconstruction of identity, as well as Paul Gilroy (2011) and Anne Mcclintock ( 2010) addressing women's issues in society and, finally, the concept of escrevivência in the studies of Conceição Evaristo (2016; 2018). Subsequently, we will emphasize how the representation of black women in the story is evident, as well as the results of the character's identity reconstruction from the memory of what had been taken from her when she was still a girl. And finally, we will also see the African diaspora applied in a metaphorical way, in the life and story of the protagonist character. And so, through reflections and displacements, breaking silences, demonstrating voices and strength in the face of the symbolic violence suffered by the character, emphasizing how she fought for her freedom and for the non-erasing of her story.
