(In) visibilidade e imaginário: trajetória entre subalternização e criatividade em Quarto de Despejo, de Carolina Maria de Jesus

Abstract

This research has as a priori to investigate the (in) visibility and the imaginary within the self-fictional trajectory in Quarto de Despejo: diário de uma favelada (2013), by Carolina Maria de Jesus, who through her narrative voice, denounces the life of the poor, it shows hunger, misery, issues that become antagonistic in her work, such as pain, fear and racial discrimination, based on her desire for freedom in the resistance to live. In view of this, the importance of a critical study on this theme is perceived in order to trace the path of the imaginary highlighting the paths of (in) visibility and debating and expanding previous knowledge about the author. This work focuses on a bibliographic research in a literature review on the main theories that guide the theoretical framework of this analysis, so the reading of the critical fortune about Carolina Maria de Jesus will be made, also the invisibility processes within the self-fiction and the relationships of the imaginary present in the work that become essential for the conclusion of this study, and in what way Jesus used the imaginary to develop her ideas and social premises in a constant struggle against her antagonisms in the following topics: the imaginary process and (in)visibility, the myth of the writer, and finally, narrative and image of Carolina Maria de Jesus. Therefore, it becomes knowable that the imagination represents more than symbols, but rather a constant escape from what can (or not) be considered real in a representation of the social collective, as a performance of the writing of oneself, within the myth of the writer in her discursive narrative of resistance. All of this in an analytical and critical study characterized as bibliographic research.
