Análise discursiva da marginalização, regionalismo e superação em Capitães da Areia, de Jorge Amado

Abstract

This work aims to carry out an analysis based on some excerpts from the work "Capitães da Areia" by Jorge Amado, investigating the complex interactions between language, discourse, historical context and ideology present in the narrative. Through the perspective of Discourse Analysis (DA), we seek to understand how linguistic and discursive elements contribute to the construction of meanings in the work, revealing the social and cultural complexities of the time in which it was written. The justification for this study lies in the importance of Jorge Amado's work, which shows the social inequalities and living conditions faced by abandoned children in the society of Salvador. Furthermore, the Discourse Analysis approach allows for a more comprehensive understanding of the connections between language, ideology and power, contributing to a more complete analysis of the narrative. The bibliographic reference includes contributions from renowned theorists, such as Michel Foucault (1986), Eni Orlandi (2009), Koch, and Elias (2006) and Francine Maziére (2007). Through the works of Foucault (1986), it is possible to explore the relationship between discourse, power and construction of the subject. Orlandi (2009) expands this perspective by addressing the intersection between language, ideology and history. Koch and Elias (2006) contribute to the importance of the interaction between text, author and reader in the construction of meaning. The results of this research reveal that the work "Capitães da Areia" transcends the linguistic surface, incorporating broader historical, ideological and social contexts. Through discursive analysis, it is possible to identify how the discourses in the work are constructed and how they reflect power relations, social structures and values of society at the time. This analysis contributes to an understanding of the literary work and the social issues addressed through it.
